As Thanksgiving approaches, we find ourselves reflecting on the many reasons we are grateful here at Valley City Parks and Recreation. At the heart of our gratitude is our incredible community—the people, partnerships, and places that make Valley City a vibrant and welcoming home.
We're Thankful For... Connections:
One of the greatest gifts we have is the ability to gather, connect, and recharge in the beautiful spaces we share. Parks like Chautauqua Park and City Park aren’t just places to enjoy a walk or a picnic; they’re spaces where friendships form, family traditions are celebrated, and community bonds grow stronger. Whether it’s a t-ball game at Hi-Line Park, a yoga class at the Gaukler Family Wellness Center, or a quiet moment in nature along the walking path in City Park, these experiences enrich our lives in ways we often take for granted.
We're Thankful For... Our Partnerships:
We’re also deeply thankful for the partnerships that allow us to keep our parks and programs thriving. Local businesses, volunteers, and organizations—like those who support events like Parktober Festival, our July Events, and Music in the Park—play a vital role in creating a sense of belonging and pride in our community. Together, we’ve built something extraordinary, and your contributions make all the difference.
We're Thankful For... Our Staff:
We're also thankful for our staff, both part-time and full-time, with their dedication to maintaining our parks, organizing programs, and creating opportunities for connection enriches our community every day. From keeping our parks beautiful to inspiring wellness and creativity, their efforts ensure our spaces are welcoming and vibrant for everyone to enjoy.
We're Thankful For... Our Amazing Community:
We also couldn't do it without the community members who play a big part in making our parks a welcoming space for all. Whether it’s helping to keep our parks clean, supporting programs, contributing to the VCPR Foundation to assist with youth and adult scholarships, or encouraging friends and family to get outside, their enthusiasm inspires others to embrace everything our parks and recreation system represents. Together, staff and community alike create the vibrant, connected atmosphere that makes Valley City so special.
This Thanksgiving, we invite everyone to reflect on the people and places that make Valley City such a special community. Take some time to enjoy a walk in your favorite park, lend a hand with a local project, or share a cherished memory of how our shared spaces have made an impact in your life.
From all of us at Valley City Parks and Recreation, we wish you a joyful Thanksgiving filled with connection, gratitude, and the beauty of the outdoors. Thank you for being part of our community!
