Gaukler Family Wellness Center Pool

About the Facility

733 8th Avenue SW  Valley City, ND 58072

Located inside the Gaukler Family Wellness Center, the indoor pool is a large swimming pool with four lap lanes, zero depth entry, fountains, and a hot tub. Relax after a workout or just stop on in any time the pool is open!  See pool calendar for hours of operation.

Free with a GFWC membership

Youth Drop-In: $5

Adult Drop-In: $10

Lifeguard Class

Earn your American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and gain the skills needed to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. This course covers water rescue techniques, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, first aid, and emergency action plans. Participants must meet prerequisite swimming requirements, including a timed swim, brick retrieval, and treading water. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a lifeguard certification valid for two years.

This is a blended learning class. Half of the class will be done online on the participants own time. This includes portions of the classroom section where participants will go through videos, quick reading, and knowledge checks. 

​

Date: March 22 - 23

Start Times: 8 AM Saturday and Sunday

Certification Cost: $200

Recertification Cost: $100 (Sunday class only)

Location: Gaukler Family Wellness Center

Reimbursement: Lifeguards taking the class may be reimbursed 2/3 of the class fee if they are employed by VCPR after completion of the course and work 160 hours.

About the Levels:

Parent/Child

Guardian must be in the water with child at all times. Adult and child learn together to increase child’s comfort in the water. Basic skills are introduced.

​

Pre-School 

Introduce children to being in the water without their

guardian and performing basic water skills.

​

Level 1

(MUST be 5 years old prior to 1st day of class)

Basic floats, strokes, and skills are introduced and taught with aid from instructors

​

Level 2

Students build upon skills learned in Level 1 and doing their skills more independently and with more refinement

​

Level 3

Students build upon skills learned in Level 2, learn new strokes and kicks, and fundamentals of diving.

​

Level 4

Students build upon skills learned in Level 3, learn turns, new dives and strokes

​

Level 5/6

Students build upon and master skills learned in Level 4 and build their endurance.

​
